Introducing Connect
Connect is the new name for our children's Sunday morning workshops which started in April.
The aim of the workshops is to link the Bible with our everyday lives and to connect adults and children as we
explore the Christian faith in new and creative ways. We are building on a good foundation of dedicated work with
our children. However, in the past this work has fallen to a very few people and it is now time to share the vital
work of nurturing our children; there is no greater privilege than watching children grow in faith. Each month we
will be looking at a particular story or theme from the Bible, starting with Joshua. Three workshops per month will
introduce the story or theme from a different perspective, for example through drama, art, music, puppets, games,
cooking, gardening … the list is endless.
All are welcome to contribute ideas, but more importantly we are asking for those with a heart for our children to volunteer to use their own skills and gifts to lead a workshop for one month. Anything you can do, any interests you have, we can use!
The three older children's groups will rotate through the workshops for the month. This is great news for Connect workshop leaders as only one lot of preparation is required, with some alteration each week for the different age groups. Even better news is that free information, ideas and lesson plans are available on the internet from churches already running rotation workshops.
Would you please pray for Connect and for our children. Please pray that enough people will volunteer to lead workshops and also that people will come forward to be alongside the children in a pastoral role as 'shepherds'. You can be assured no one involved in this work will be left on their own. The themes of the workshops will be planned well in advance and training for leaders and shepherds will begin in April. This is a wonderful opportunity for us all and as a church we cannot afford to let it slip by.
