Ways of Growing
Life’s journey is one of becoming more fully human and for the Christian the model of what it means to be fully alive is seen supremely in Jesus. The invitation to ‘follow him’ is one of learning how to put into practice the things he taught and seeking the power of his Spirit to transform our lives day by day.
We try to provide the resources at Christ Church to equip people for this journey and the encouragement to keep moving on in God’s way. Central to this is the network of home groups that meet all over the parish. They have proved an informal environment where people can experience the love of God and explore important issues with honesty and integrity. Worship and prayer take a variety of forms depending on the needs and character of the group and through teaching and discussion the message of the Bible is applied to life today.
In church we have a range of books, CDs, videos and DVDs for children and adults to borrow. Recordings of previous sermons can be bought or borrowed. We also work closely with the Sanctuary Bookshop in Staple Hill who can supply anything and everything very quickly.
As people take on new roles and responsibilities within the church we do all we can to offer relevant training and support to equip them for their work and inspire them in their ministry.
A large proportion of the church goes to Christian Conferences and Family Holiday weeks such as Spring Harvest and New Wine.
