Ways of Serving
One of the primary aims of Christ Church is to be a loving community seeking to reflect God’s passionate concern for the whole of His creation. A great deal of the caring happens informally between individuals and in small groups. However, because we are aware that in a large church people can easily be overlooked, we have in place a number of teams that have particular areas of ministry.
Visiting those who are unwell
Team members hope to visit those who are ill at home or in hospital, to be a listener and give practical help, where appropriate. A monthly prayer meeting is held specifically to pray for those in particular need in the parish.
Bereavement visiting
The main purpose is to offer support, comfort and a listening ear to those who are bereaved. In conjunction with the clergy, families will be visited by a team member within a few weeks of the funeral.
Visiting the Elderly
The team hopes to visit those who are becoming infirm and who are often confined to their home or who live in a residential home. The offer of Holy Communion is there for those who are unable to get to church.
Counselling and Spiritual Direction
A number of church members are trained and have experience in these ministries.
Healing Prayer Ministry
There is a Service of Prayer for Healing on the 5th Sunday of the month in church, but members of the team are available to pray with others at any time.
The Mothers’ Union
The aim of the MU is to strengthen marriage and family life. This happens through prayer, mutual support and participation in a programme of monthly meetings.

Prayer
A variety of small groups meet for prayer with a particular focus e.g. for meditation, for persecuted Christians, for the local community. There is also a Prayer Chain that operates at the request of individuals.
